So whether you’re driving or walking or just need somebody to pour into you, then you got all you need over here, boo. Now let’s dive in because we got a few things to discuss in this introduction of season two.

00:01:46
Don’t you worry, worry. Dr. Nina’s here to help you through it all. Mentally, physically, and emotionally, you can be strong. Now that’s life. When the chips are down, you can get up again. We know you can use a friend.

00:02:12
Y’all make sure you let me know how you feeling about the podcast intro, the new intro. We trying to be jazzy or whatever. So I need to hear from you. So y’all know I got to say, well, well, well, look who’s back. It has been three whole years. Okay. Two to three years, two and a half years, baby. I’ll give myself a little credit. But nonetheless, I have not posted on this podcast on so in so long. And I’m wrong. You know, it’s been a long time. I shouldn’t have left you without a dope beat to step to.

00:02:43
Okay. That podcast even got me right on days when I was wrong. Do you hear me? And, but I had to bring it back. I couldn’t leave it alone. And now that I’ve gone through more major life transitions, which is what my brand is all about. I just felt it only right to come back to now that’s life. And while so much has changed, let me ask you, how are you doing? Okay. Cause I’m feeling myself today. I’m feeling pretty good tonight. Okay.

00:03:10
And I really want to share that energy and joy, but I also want to know how you are. You can actually comment down below. And if I’m not mistaken, you can even comment on the podcast, the audio version. And if you’re new here again, welcome. But if you’ve been riding with me, you already know how it goes down and it’s about to be real good. Now y’all know life for me hits in threes. In fact, I shared even my, my wedding story and all of that.

00:03:37
And the number that we’ve referenced even for our wedding was three. Why? Because I was adopted at three months old. Okay. One of my bestest friends, we are three months apart. Our babies are three months apart. But even before that, um, three is just a blessed number, right? We know that, and I’m a believer. So God, the father, the son, and the Holy ghost, that’s three.

00:04:04
Just many other things just come in threes. And even my mother, uh, made adoption for me solid in December, which was three months from my birth. That was also her birth month, the 21st, a bigger derivative of three. I mean, there’s just so much with three, right? Three for me is just everything. Um, even Sean and I, without even trying, uh, he asked me to be his official girlfriend three

00:04:32
months after meeting. There was almost three years between the time that we met and the time that we got married. Y’all three is everything. So without further ado, what, what are my three big transitions that have happened since I’ve, I’ve been on the podcast? Number one, marriage. Okay. Marriage. Um, that was a huge one as such.

00:05:00
And let me mention something too, while I’m talking about these transitions, I think something we don’t give enough credence to is that even when you are having positive transformations and transitions, it all can be so overwhelming, especially when things are coming at you left and right. And you just, you know, you don’t even have time to digest, right? Everything that’s happening. And though you’re happy, sometimes those slowdown points just make it overwhelming for all the

00:05:28
things that you have experienced. And I think that sometimes people that have not experienced overwhelm and they see it with other people, it could come off as hiding. It can come off as hibernation because baby, I took my time off multiple times through all these changes. And I will say that it’s just overwhelmed. It’s overwhelmed. And even positive transitions bring about overwhelm. If you think about it, right?

00:05:57
A caterpillar that’s becoming a butterfly, y’all. That’s pretty freaking overwhelming, I’m sure. It’s a wonderful transformation, but my goodness, there are some pains. There are some beautiful points. There are some times where your body’s got to catch up. You’re doing something totally different from what you did before. And needless to say, my transformations have been no different. So going back to marriage, y’all already know I got married, but, and many of y’all were there for the transition.

00:06:26
But can we talk about how wild of a ride it’s been? I’m finally getting to that process of understanding what wifehood means to me. And in a world where there’s a lot of noise, in a world where there’s different people that have different expectations, it is important for you, and me and Sean have learned this, to cling tight to one another so that you can support each other in your own definition. Because the world, no matter who they are, will have something to say about what you do

00:06:55
and how you choose to do it. And I think that has been a big part of my journey into new wifehood. And I’m learning every day and I’m so happy to learn. Also, number two, that was becoming a full professor, which happened a few months after getting married. And I’m going to be honest, I was a little too overwhelmed to properly celebrate. If it wasn’t for Sean, I probably wouldn’t have celebrated it. He was like, uh-uh, this is a big deal.

00:07:22
And he made it a huge deal and made sure that I had gifts and celebration and even just going out and doing some different things for us. But for me, he really wanted to celebrate me, which really led me back to understanding why I married this man, right? So I remember that even being overwhelming and not taking all that in and what that meant

00:07:47
to me as a woman, a woman of color, a black woman to be a full professor. I don’t know if y’all know about the stats out there. First off, being a professor is not many of us. And then there’s not many black female professors at that. And I don’t take that for granted. And even just remembering or going back to that at a certain age, I became a full professor before the age of 40, which was my goal.

00:08:15
The average age of a full professor is 55 years old, if I’m not mistaken. And so that was a huge deal. And there were times where I had to stop and think about it and actually cry. Do you hear me? And I’m actually now just coming into the know of understanding all that happened, all of the transformations, all of the self-chequeries, all of the ups and downs, all the things that almost took me out during that time.

00:08:46
And how I was able to transcend, work harder, but not just work harder, work smarter, attach myself to the correct mentors. And I really want to impart a lot of that knowledge this season. So season two, yeah. And I also was blessed to not only conceive with my husband, but bring in a dynamic baby,

00:09:11
little Hunter, who was born in December of 2023. And what’s crazy about December is I told y’all I was officially adopted by my mother at three months in December, which is also her birth month. So in my mother’s birth month as well, which is funny, they’re exactly seven days apart in the month.

00:09:34
So all of these things have made it so I don’t just take signs for granted. I just know that divine timing and God’s divine timing is so important. And I do want to talk a lot about that. What’s interesting and what I didn’t really share then when it was all centered around happy little Hunter was that I turned 40 while I was pregnant with her.

00:10:02
And that was a huge milestone for me. And it wasn’t exactly how I had envisioned my 40th birthday. And I say that with the utmost excitement and smile because, I mean, I don’t know what I thought 40 was going to look like, but it certainly didn’t look the way that it was. And I can say that even that had me taken aback. It had me in my feels. It had me in my thoughts. And I’ve had to do a lot of reflecting on even that and how that transformation and that

00:10:32
transcendence into, I think, my full womanhood, right? Because I’m in a place where now I’m so much more well-rested in who I am and to bring my baby into the world at that time. My goodness, what a powerful time. And I’m going to tell y’all for real, I didn’t think or I thought I knew what overwhelm was, but child, I ain’t no man. Okay. I ain’t no much of nothing. Okay.

00:11:01
I’ve been overwhelmed, but that was a lot going on. It was a milestone overload. So y’all, I’m going to be real with you. That was a lot all at once. And I didn’t exactly feel dope doing it all. And for those that have tuned in since season one, you know that dope is one of my big acronyms, which is destined to obtain prosperity in everything. Okay. And that’s what we are. And that’s what this podcast is all about.

00:11:29
Teaching you how to do that, but not just teaching you, showing you, because I’m from the show me state, baby. I’m from St. Louis and Memphis. It’s the show me state. We show better than we can tell in my life is the journey. Yes. It’s the way by which we teach. However, I also want to make sure that y’all understand it with no bounds in your own journey, whether you want it or have the things that I have, or if there’s other things you’re going

00:11:57
for, that’s what we’re destined to obtain prosperity in everything. That’s what it means. And personally, in my season of change, I went from single to married to mother to promoted all of these various different things. And honestly, I wanted to hibernate and come back to y’all when I had it all figured out. But spoiler alert, I don’t. I still don’t. But that’s not what being dope is about. It’s not about perfection.

00:12:23
It’s about growing through whatever life throws at you because it will throw some things, honey. And that’s what this podcast is going to be all about. So y’all, whether you want kids or not, you want a relationship or not, you’re in career advancement or not, we all go through identity shifts, all of us. And we all want to be destined to prosperity in all of those areas. And we deserve it. Look, I’m not just going to take you to class because baby, I already does the professoring.

00:12:51
But I really, really, really want to bring y’all life lessons that make a difference. So I’m living in real time and I’m bringing you the life lessons. So this ain’t about what I’ve studied. It’s about a mixture of my expertise into what I’ve lived. This season is all about us growing together and all of us becoming dope in our own unique ways. So what can y’all expect from season two? Because it’s going to be everything. It is everything.

00:13:21
We’re going to dive deep into those life transitions, things like hormone health, boundaries that actually work, all the stuff that helps you to become even more dope. I’m going to bring you experts and real women living these experiences. And every one of them will be near and dear to my heart. People who I believe embody being dope. More Q&As, more real talk, more answering your questions.

00:13:44
So make sure that you type them down below or leave me a comment or email me at hiatdrnineliservey.com. And also I’m bringing you more tools that you can actually use to level up in every area of your life. Because y’all, that’s what we’re here for. We’re going to help each other become the most prosperous version of ourselves. So there’s going to be new episodes every Wednesday. Every Wednesday. Mark your calendars because I need to see you here or have you here in here. So answer this question for me.

00:14:14
What major life transition are you navigating right now? What are you focused on and how can I help you? And if you’re looking for me across social media, of course on YouTube, that’s my main social media, which is Beautiful Brown Baby Doll. Across other platforms, including Instagram, Beautiful Brown Baby Doll. And I am brand spanking new to TikTok. Same name over there.

00:14:35
And make sure that you hit up my website, www.drninaeliservey.com or www.drninases.com. And over there, there is a suite of wonderful gifts that I have for you that will continue to build and help you to grow in everything that you’re doing. And there’s also something new on the horizon that’s coming. And I can’t wait to share that with you as well.

00:15:02
But make sure you check me out over on all of those places, especially if you ever lose your bookmark for the podcast. You can check me out on all your major podcasting platforms, though. Because let’s be real, y’all. We’re not the same people that we were three years ago. And that’s the point. We’re not supposed to be. Whether you’re navigating marriage, parenthood, career changes, friendships, a job you don’t want or a job you won’t. Or just finding out who and what you want to be and where you want to be.

00:15:32
Then you’re in the right place. Until next time, I want you to start choosing growth over comfort. And remember that you’re dope and way more capable than you know. So thank y’all for tuning in. And I’m looking so forward to the rest of this season. We’re going to make it fun. We’re going to get into it. We’re about to kill it, okay? Or live it, rather. All right. This is the Now That’s Life podcast. Dr. Nina signing out. Peace.

00:16:01
Now that’s life. When the chips are down, you can get up again. That’s right. When nothing’s working out, we know you can use a friend.
